Ikorodu City have been sanctioned by the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, for breach of rules governing the league during the Matchday 17 against Remo Stars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena last Sunday.
During the game, tensions flew between the two South-West teams and a yet-to-be identified person slapped one of the coaches of Remo Stars, Coach Suliamon Kamil.
Consequently, NPFL’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, has slammed a one million naira fine on Ikorodu City for failure to provide adequate and effective security, another one million naira fine for encroachment onto the field of play and another one million naira fine for failure to ensure the proper conduct of team and supporters.
The NPFL also ordered the closure of the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium to fans for the next two consecutive home games.
