The Super Falcons of Nigeria booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt in Casablanca.

Needing a win to secure qualification, Nigeria delivered one of their most convincing performances of the tournament, dominating large periods of the game and creating numerous scoring opportunities.

Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute after a VAR review confirmed a handball. Egypt responded before the break when Nadine Ghazi converted a penalty to cut Nigeria’s lead.

The Super Falcons took control in the second half, with Uchenna Kanu extending the advantage after capitalising on a defensive mistake. Nigeria continued to pile on the pressure and earned another penalty, which Christy Ucheibe converted to further strengthen their lead.

Although Ghazi grabbed a second goal for Egypt, Nigeria maintained their attacking intensity and added more goals to complete a dominant 6-2 win.

The result sends the nine-time African champions into the knockout stage with renewed confidence after recovering from their opening setback of the competition.
