Troops from the Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), have successfully rescued 31 kidnapped victims in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
Under the command of Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto, the troops conducted a series of clearance operations targeting terrorists’ hideouts in the North-West.
During a recent clearance operation in the Tangaza Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State, the troops cleared Alya Fulani village and Buani Forest, resulting in the rescue of 30 kidnapped individuals. The terrorists abandoned their captives and fled their camps as the troops approached, and all discovered hideouts were subsequently destroyed.
In another operation at Goboro village, one female kidnapped victim was rescued, with the terrorists fleeing in disarray due to the superior firepower of the troops.
Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji, commended the gallantry of the troops and urged them to maintain the momentum, denying terrorists any freedom of action in the region.
