Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has been selected as one of the honorees at the annual women in music event organized by Billboard.
The event, which celebrates women from various music professions across different categories, will recognize Tems as the Billboard Women In Music Breakthrough Artist honoree for the year.
Ahead of the award ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, Tems shared insights into her breakthrough journey in music and her collaborations with top artists such as Beyonce, Drake, and Rihanna in an interview.
Delving into her music career, Tems confirmed that her album is set to be released this year, stating, “It is 1,000% coming out this year.”
Tems gained widespread recognition after her feature on Wizkid’s 2020 single “Essence,” which soared to number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, particularly following the release of the remix version featuring Justin Bieber.
In addition to being honored, Tems will also perform at the Billboard Women In Music ceremony, scheduled to take place on March 7 at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles.
