Nigerian, South African Armies Pledge Stronger Cooperation in Counter-Terrorism and Cyber Warfare

The Nigerian and South African Armies are exploring collaboration in electronic warfare, cyber security, and medical personnel training, as part of efforts to strengthen their military ties.

The Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, speaking during a visit by South African Army Chief, Lieutenant General Lawrence Mbatha to the Army headquarters today in Abuja, highlighted key areas of collaboration, including counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, particularly in Nigeria’s northeastern region.

He further outlined Nigeria’s efforts in modernising the military through training, doctrine development, and professional military education. Lieutenant General Mbatha, in his remarks, described the visit as an opportunity to build on existing agreements and protocols between the two armies.
