Team Nigeria ended the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, as the highest-ranked African country, finishing seventh overall with a total of 24 medals.

Nigeria secured 10 gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals, delivering one of its strongest performances at the Games.

Among the standout performers were Esther Nworgu, who won Nigeria’s first gold medal in para powerlifting, Ezekiel Nathaniel in the men’s 400m hurdles, Goodness Nwachukwu, who set a new world record on her way to gold in the women’s F42 discus, Idris Riluwan in para powerlifting, and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, who made history in the men’s shot put.

Despite battling injury, Tobi Amusan also contributed to Nigeria’s medal haul with a bronze medal in the women’s 100m hurdles.

The final medals table placed Nigeria seventh overall, making it Africa’s best-performing nation at the Games.
