Nigeria’s Super Falcons open their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign on Tuesday, 28th July, 2026 with a Group C clash against tournament debutants Malawi in Rabat, Morocco.

Head coach Justine Madugu has a nearly full squad available, with defender Ashleigh Plumptre the only notable absentee as she continues her recovery from injury.

Malawi will rely heavily on captain Temwa Chawinga and her sister Tabitha Chawinga as they look to cause an upset in their first-ever WAFCON appearance.

Nigeria, drawn alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in Group C, will be aiming for a winning start as they seek to retain their continental crown. The tournament also serves as the qualification pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the four semi-finalists securing automatic qualification.
