National Assembly Commits to Finalizing Electoral Reform Ahead of Upcoming Off-Cycle Elections

The National Assembly has vowed to complete electoral reforms ahead of the off-cycle elections coming up this year. 

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who gave the assurance upon resumption of lawmakers at plenary, emphasized that the foundation of every thriving democracy is viable electoral reforms. 

Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Senate President urged his colleagues in the 10th National Assembly to rise to their responsibility to gift the Nigerian people a system that is transparent, credible, and reflective of their will. 

Meanwhile, the Senate has confirmed 34 nominees for the governing boards of the South East Development Commission and the North West Development Commission.

Mark Okoye was approved as the Managing Director of the South East Development Commission, while Professor Abdullahi Ma’aji got the nod for the same role in the North West Development Commission.
