The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has decided to suspend its planned nationwide strike following a meeting with the Federal Government and stakeholders.
The association had threatened to shut down operations across the country beginning Monday in protest of the high cost of automotive gas oil, commonly known as diesel, which is essential for fueling their trucks used in transporting petroleum products across Nigeria.
However, after deliberations on Monday, NARTO directed its members to ensure normalcy and refrain from embarking on the strike.
The decision to suspend the strike was made in consideration of the challenges faced by Nigerians due to the high cost of living and the potential impact of the strike on the economy.
