Mohbad’s Widow Accuses Father-in-Law of Siding with Naira Marley, Blames Him for Inconclusive Autopsy

Wunmi Aloba, the widow of the late Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, has taken the side of Naira Marley, one of the individuals accused of bullying her husband before his death.

Speaking as a guest on the With Chude show during the week, Wunmi expressed her frustrations over her father-in-law’s actions, claiming that instead of supporting her in the quest for justice, he has aligned himself with Naira Marley, the embattled musician and former label boss of Mohbad.

Naira Marley, the head of Marlian Music, was once a close associate of Mohbad but has faced accusations of harassment and bullying after the young artist left the label in 2022. Following Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, public outcry intensified, with many pointing fingers at Naira Marley and his associates as contributing factors to the late singer’s distress.

During the interview, Wunmi also addressed the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s autopsy, stating that she knew her husband reacted to an injection before his passing. However, the autopsy results came back inconclusive, a development she blamed on the hasty burial carried out by her father-in-law.

She insisted that if Mohbad had not been buried so quickly, the autopsy would have had a clearer outcome. The late singer was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos, a day after his passing, a decision that sparked widespread criticism and fueled conspiracy theories about the circumstances of his death. Following pressure from the public and authorities, Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy, but the results failed to provide definitive answers.
