Manchester United have completed the £48 million signing of Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea and are closing in on a deal for Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans as they strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
The 22-year-old Santos has signed a contract until 2031, with an option to extend for an additional year, after successfully completing his medical. He joins United after making 43 appearances for Chelsea last season and helping the club win the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Speaking after the move, Santos described joining Manchester United as a dream and said he is looking forward to working under manager Michael Carrick, whom he believes can help him develop further.
United are also in advanced negotiations to sign Tielemans, whose Aston Villa contract reportedly includes a release clause that has eased talks between both clubs.
Meanwhile, the club has put its planned move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson on hold after a medical assessment raised concerns over an injury.
