Thirty-one pupils rescued after weeks in captivity following their abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been discharged from LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, after doctors confirmed they had recovered sufficiently to return home.

The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Olawale Olakulehin, said the discharged pupils have been reunited with their families, while eight others are still receiving treatment and will remain under close medical supervision until they fully recover.

According to Olakulehin, the latest discharge marks significant progress in the victims’ recovery, with medical teams continuing to provide both physical and psychological care for those still hospitalised.

He assured the public that the hospital remains committed to the welfare of the rescued children and will only discharge the remaining pupils when specialists are satisfied they are medically and emotionally ready to leave.
