LASTMA Introduces Ticket Alert System to Enhance Traffic Law Compliance in Lagos

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has unveiled a new initiative called Ticket Alert, aimed at promoting voluntary compliance with traffic laws among motorists in the state.

The announcement was made via LASTMA’s official social media platform, X, on Wednesday.

The Ticket Alert system is designed to streamline the process of identifying and penalizing traffic violators, ensuring a hassle-free experience on Lagos roads.

It utilizes modern technology to track vehicles and identify offenders with pending fines for traffic violations, making it difficult for them to evade penalties.

Under the Ticket Alert system, motorists found guilty of offenses such as driving with expired vehicle licenses, roadworthiness, or insurance will receive a yellow sticker on their vehicles as a reminder to settle outstanding fines within a 30-day period. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will result in the vehicle being impounded.

To facilitate the payment of fines and provide motorists with information on outstanding penalties, LASTMA encourages Lagos residents to visit the paylasg.ng website. Here, they can check for outstanding fines using their vehicle plate numbers and make payments accordingly.

Explaining the operational process of the Ticket Alert system, LASTMA officials will receive alerts on their mobile devices whenever vehicles with outstanding fines are detected nearby. This information is captured through traffic cameras positioned across Lagos and handheld devices used by LASTMA volunteers.

Upon receiving an alert, officials will locate the vehicle and affix a yellow sticker to notify the owner of the unsettled fine. Vehicle owners then have a 30-day window to settle the fine, as indicated on the sticker.

LASTMA emphasizes that the Ticket Alert system aims to promote road safety and responsible driving behavior among motorists in Lagos. By leveraging technology and implementing innovative solutions, LASTMA seeks to enhance compliance with traffic laws and ensure safer roads for all residents.
