The Lagos State Government has unveiled the Ilera N’ Tiwa Cooperative and Multipurpose Society Ltd to enhance financial inclusion and extend health insurance coverage to residents, particularly those in the informal sector.
This initiative is under the state’s Ilera Eko health insurance scheme.
Spearheaded by the Lagos State Health Management Agency, the cooperative is part of the larger Ilera Eko Cooperative and Multipurpose Society (IECMS).
During the launch ceremony, the Board Chairman, Dr. Bayo Adedewe, highlighted the cooperative’s objectives, stating it aims to improve healthcare access by introducing flexible premium payment options. In addition to health benefits, the cooperative will offer economic incentives such as loans and discounted food supplies to its members.
The initiative is expected to provide a dual advantage of better health outcomes and economic empowerment for Lagos residents, further strengthening the state’s commitment to inclusive growth and development.
