Lagos PDP Chairman Released After Four Days in Kidnappers’ Custody

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the release of Philip Aivoj, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Lagos State, who spent four days in the custody of his kidnappers.

According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Aivoj was freed in the early hours of Monday, though specific details regarding his release remain undisclosed.

The incident unfolded when Aivoj, along with other party officials, was abducted by gunmen on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Ogere last Thursday. The group was returning from a PDP stakeholders’ zonal caucus meeting in Ibadan, convened by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

A rescue attempt on Friday resulted in a tragic outcome, with the death of one of the kidnap victims, 37-year-old Bilikisu Kazeem, during a gun battle with the abductors.
