Lagos Commuters Stranded as Commercial Drivers Protest Against Extortion

Commuters in Lagos faced significant disruptions on Monday as commercial drivers initiates a strike to protest alleged extortion by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Task Force. The protest has led to a reduced presence of commercial vehicles, leaving commuters stranded at various bus stops and motor parks across the state.

The drivers’ demonstration, fueled by grievances over extortion practices, has effectively paralyzed transportation services in Lagos. LagosTalks reported that the strike was prompted by the commercial drivers’ frustration with what they perceive as undue fees and harassment from LASTMA and the Task Force.
