Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed the dominance and unity of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State during the party’s State Congress.l which held today at the Onikan Stadium.
The governor declared that the party structure in Lagos remains unmatched across the country.
He said the peaceful and well-organised conduct of the congress demonstrated that the party is supreme and united in purpose.
Sanwo-Olu expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as the party’s leader and mentor whose guidance continues to shape the Lagos APC.
He also commended the party’s national leadership, including National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda,, for ensuring fairness and transparency in the congress process.
The governor praised committees sent from Abuja for conducting what he called a seamless and credible exercise.
He acknowledged the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, thanking them for monitoring the proceedings.
Sanwo-Olu lauded party leaders at the state, local government and ward levels for their commitment and early mobilisation.
He congratulated the newly elected state executive committee led by Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, charging them to strengthen inclusivity, equity and internal democracy.
The governor urged the executives to position Lagos as a national reference point for party organisation and governance.
He stressed that the congress marks the beginning of more work ahead, calling for sustained unity among members.
Sanwo-Olu concluded by assuring delegates that the Lagos APC will remain strong, cohesive and committed to progressive ideals.
Earlier,
Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, says his re-election at the 2026 party congress reflects the unity and strength of the party in Lagos State.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to the growth of the party and democracy in Nigeria.
Ojelabi also commended Governor Babajide Oluseyi Sanwo-Olu, the Deputy Governor, members of the National and State Assemblies, and party executives for their support and contributions to governance and infrastructure renewal in Lagos.
He praised grassroots mobilizers, council chairmen, cabinet members, and party faithful across ethnic groups for strengthening the party structure and securing electoral victories.
The APC chairman urged members, especially youths and women, to remain united and engaged ahead of forthcoming elections, pledging that the party will continue to deliver good governance and sustainable development in Lagos and Nigeria.
