Kylian Mbappe was honored as France’s player of the year at an awards ceremony in Paris on Monday, capping off his illustrious seven-season tenure with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
At the UNFP (French players’ union) Trophies gala, the 25-year-old striker received the prestigious accolade for the best player in Ligue 1 for the fifth consecutive time.
This recognition comes as Mbappe concludes a remarkable season, during which he scored an impressive 44 goals across all competitions for PSG.
Mbappe’s future has been a subject of speculation, with the France captain recently confirming his departure from PSG when his contract expires at the end of the campaign. It is widely anticipated that he will join Real Madrid in the upcoming transfer window.
In his final home game for PSG on Sunday, Mbappe found the net as the champions suffered an unexpected 3-1 defeat against Toulouse. His goal in that match brought his tally in Ligue 1 to 27 for the season, placing him comfortably ahead as the league’s top scorer, with a notable eight-goal margin over Lille’s Jonathan David.
