Members of Kenya’s aviation workers’ union have agreed to resume work after a 1-day strike, which left hundreds of passengers stranded at the main airport.
This came after they were assured by the government that a plan to lease the airport to an Indian company would only proceed with the union’s approval.
Secretary of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions, Francis Atwoli, told newsmen that the aviation workers’ union and the government had agreed that no one who participated in the strike would be victimised.
The strike was to protest against a planned takeover of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by an Indian company, Adani group, for 30 years.
The aviation workers’ argued that the deal could lead to job losses.
