Nearly three decades after Tupac Shakur was killed in Las Vegas, Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been convicted of first-degree murder over the rapper’s 1996 death.

Jurors reached the verdict after several hours of deliberation, three decades after Shakur died from gunshot wounds sustained in Las Vegas.

Prosecutors said Davis organised the attack after his nephew fought members of Shakur’s entourage at a casino. They alleged that Davis obtained a gun and gathered his associates before pursuing Shakur.

The rapper was riding in the front passenger seat of a BMW when a white Cadillac pulled alongside the vehicle at a red light and opened fire on September 7, 1996. Shakur died six days later at the age of 25.

Davis faces the possibility of life imprisonment without parole. Following the verdict, he told Judge Carli Kierny that he plans to appeal.
