JAMB Adjusts 2027 UTME Arrival, Exam Times

JAMB has adjusted the arrival and examination times for candidates participating in the first session of the 2027 UTME Exam.

Under the revised schedule, candidates are now expected to arrive at their designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres by 7:30 a.m., instead of the previously scheduled 6:30 a.m. The examination will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 10:30 a.m.

JAMB announced the adjustment in its weekly bulletin released in Abuja, saying it was aimed at addressing safety and logistical concerns associated with very early-morning travel.

The board said the concerns were particularly important for candidates who live far from their examination centres and may have to leave home before dawn to arrive on time.

According to JAMB, the decision followed deliberations at its 2026 Management and IT Retreat, held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, from September 6 to 11.

The retreat considered concerns raised by members of the public over the earlier arrival time and the challenges candidates could face travelling in the early hours of the morning.

JAMB said moving the arrival time forward would improve the safety and convenience of candidates and could also reduce absenteeism caused by transportation and other difficulties linked to the previous schedule.

The board added that other UTME sessions would continue to follow their established scheduling arrangements.

Although the 2027 UTME is still months away, JAMB said preparations have commenced, with management reviewing lessons from previous examinations to improve the efficiency, safety and credibility of the exercise.

Candidates and the general public have been advised to take note of the adjustment and await further official communication on the complete 2027 UTME timetable and other examination arrangements.
