Israel Strikes Lebanon Following Hezbollah Attack on Military Post

Israel Strikes Lebanon Following Hezbollah Attack on Military Post

Israel has launched airstrikes in Lebanon in response to an attack by Hezbollah on an Israeli military post. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that the strikes targeted Hezbollah positions and infrastructure across Lebanon, emphasizing their commitment to retaliate against what they termed a “severe violation” of the ceasefire agreement established last week.

At least nine individuals were reported killed due to the Israeli strikes on two villages in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese public health ministry.

Hezbollah claimed that its actions were a “defensive warning” and stated that it had fired mortars at an Israeli position in the disputed Mount Dov area, known internationally as Shebaa Farms. Israel reported no injuries from this attack.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the Hezbollah attack, asserting that Israel would respond forcefully to any violations of the ceasefire. He had previously warned that Israel would not hesitate to strike if Hezbollah breached the terms of the agreement.

The recent violence underscores the fragile nature of the ceasefire, which was intended to halt over a year of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The ceasefire agreement, supported by the United States and France, aims to secure Israel from threats posed by Hezbollah and other militant groups operating from Lebanon
