INEC Denies Receiving Cash From Development Partners

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof.  Mahmood Yakubu, has clarified that the commission did not receive any direct funding or cash support from international development partners.

Prof. Yakubu who stated this at a meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Abuja, said it was the commission’s policy not to receive direct funding or cash transfers from sources other than the Federal government of Nigeria.

According to him, the support received from international partners came in the form of technical advice, civic and voter education, organisation of meetings and capacity-building workshops, as well as the publication of documents.

Our Correspondent reports that the INEC chairman also noted that all ballot materials used for the 2023 General elections were printed in Nigeria, although admitted that they were some technical glitches in result transmission.
