INEC Declares Labour Party’s Alex Otti Abia Governor-Elect

The INEC, has declared Alex Otti, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), as the WINNER of the March 18 gubernatorial election in Abia State.
INEC had on Monday, suspended collation of the governorship election results, after its officials were attacked by THUGS in the Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.
However, declaring the Obingwa results yesterday, Collation officer in the LGA, said Mr Otti polled a total of 175,467 votes to defeat Mr Tony Ahaiwe of the PDP who polled just over 88,000 votes.
In Enugu State, where collation was suspended to allow INEC review results from two outstanding local governments areas of Nsukka and Nkanu East, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of the PDP, has been declared winner of the poll, and thus Enugu Governor-elect.
INEC Returning Officer for the Enugu gubernatorial election, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, said Mbah polled 160, 895 votes to beat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 157,552 votes.
