IMT Suspends Exams Over Student’s Tragic Death On Campus

The authorities of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu have confirmed the tragic death of Chiamaka Ozoigbondu, a student of Peaceland College, Enugu in a road accident on campus on Monday.

A statement issued by the institute’s Acting Rector, Dr Emeka Ejim, also stated that the two other students, who were injured in the accident, were currently receiving medical care.

According to Dr Ejim, following an emergency joint meeting of the Management and Academic Board yesterday, the school resolved that all outstanding examinations be suspended forthwith, and announced that a three-day mourning period, from Oct. 2 to Oct. 3, be observed by staff and students for the repose of the soul of Ozoigbondu and against a recurrence of such a sad incident.

Ejim also stated that students found celebrating within the institute “would face expulsion and explained that the speed limit for all vehicles within the campus shall not exceed 20-km per hour.
