Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has undertaken a cooking marathon since January 1st, with the goal
of breaking the Guinness World Record for a cook-a-thon, currently held at 119 hours and 57 minutes by
Irish chef Alan Fisher.
The chef, aiming for 200 hours, has drawn attention from celebrities, politicians, and the public who
gather at the hotel to witness the event.
However, concerns have been raised about the potential mental toll on Abdul-Razak. She initially
framed her attempt as a “national assignment” for Ghana.
Throughout the cooking marathon, Abdul-Razak has been showcasing the preparation of banku, a
traditional dish made from fermented maize and cassava dough, and other regional dishes on live TV
since New Year’s Day.
