Gbajabiamila Threatens Adeyemi With ₦10bn Defamation Suit

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened a ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeniyi Adeyemi over allegations linking him to bribery and murder.

In a letter issued by his lawyer, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), Gbajabiamila gave Adeyemi 72 hours to remove all videos and statements containing the allegations, publish a public apology, and issue a full retraction in at least five national newspapers and on social media.

The legal team described Adeyemi’s claims as false, malicious, and without evidence, saying they were intended to damage Gbajabiamila’s reputation. It also warned Adeyemi to stop making or publishing any further defamatory statements.

The letter stated that failure to comply within the deadline would result in legal action, including a ₦10 billion defamation suit and a criminal complaint for defamation.

The dispute stems from a press conference held by Adeyemi in June, where he alleged that Gbajabiamila collected ₦400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional ₦200 million in connection with a purported appointment. He also called for an investigation into the death of Babatunde Tanimola, whom he described as an intermediary.

Adeyemi has denied wrongdoing and insisted he is prepared to defend himself in court, while prosecutors have separately accused him of forging several government documents, including a presidential appointment letter.
