The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the deployment of 1,042 patrol vehicles across the country to ensure swift removal of obstructions on highways before, during, and after the Easter period.
According to FRSC’s spokesman, Jonas Agwu, this strategic move aims to facilitate smooth traffic flow on the highways during the festive season.
Agwu, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, emphasized that the deployment aligns with the operational guidelines of the 2024 Easter special patrol, scheduled to run from Friday to Tuesday.
The primary objectives of these operations are to curtail road traffic accidents, minimize fatalities and injuries, and ensure prompt response to incidents, including the speedy removal of obstacles from the highways.
Assuring the public of FRSC’s commitment to achieving these objectives, Mr. Agwu highlighted the agency’s comprehensive approach, which includes active engagement in purposeful public education initiatives. These programs aim to raise awareness among motorists and promote safer driving practices.
Additionally, the FRSC will intensify surveillance efforts to curb unprofessional behaviors on the roads, conduct effective patrol operations, and maintain vigilant monitoring of highway activities.
