Nigeria’s former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, has publically admitted that the late MoshoodKashimawo Olawale Abiola won the annulled June 12 1993, presidential election; about Thirty-Two years after.
The revelation is contained in Babangida’s 420-page book entitled, ‘A Journey in Service: An Autobiography of Ibrahim Babangida’, launched yesterday in which he noted that the decision to annul the election was them acting in extreme national interest so that Nigeria could survive.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and Chairman of BUA Group, AbdulsamadRabiu, were part of dignitaries that raised billions of naira for the establishment of a presidential library for Babangida.
Dangote, who hailed the former military ruler as the one who established private sector in Nigeria, announced a donation of N6 billion, saying that he will be supporting the project with N2 billion annually for a period of four years.
Abdulsamad on his part, commended Babangida for the book and presidential library launched, announcing a donation of N5 billion for the project.
Other donors include Theophilus Danjuma whodonated N3 billion; Senate President, GodswillAkpabio, donated N50 million; Arthur Eze donated N500 million; and Mustafa Chike-Obi donated N100 million.
