A fire outbreak in the Ikate-Elegushi area of Lekki, Lagos State, on Sunday night resulted in several persons narrowly escaping death as makeshift structures were engulfed in flames.

The incident occurred around the vicinity of Star Road, near Horizon Heights, Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki Lagos, where the fire ravaged residential makeshift structures spanning approximately an acre of land.

Confirming the incident, Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, provided details in a statement issued on Monday.

Adeseye stated that the fire was effectively contained through the efforts of firefighters who employed defensive firefighting tactics. Their swift response prevented the flames from spreading to upscale properties in the area.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the affected structures were not immediately disclosed.
