The Federal Government has approved work on 13 police training centres across Nigeria ahead of the next round of Nigeria Police Force training programmes.

The rehabilitation will take three weeks, according to the update presented at the 160th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

NEC also approved the Revised National Social Protection Policy 2026–2030, which aims to improve how government coordinates, funds and monitors social protection programmes across Nigeria. The policy also proposes a National Social Protection Council to oversee implementation.

Shettima urged federal and state authorities to ensure ongoing reforms deliver more jobs, stronger purchasing power, increased business confidence and better living conditions.

He also called for greater focus on completing existing government commitments, stressing that new priorities should not push unfinished projects aside.
