The Federal Government has provided 18 rescued Chibok girls with ₦1 million business grants each and vocational starter packs as part of efforts to support their economic independence and long-term recovery.
The presentation was made during the graduation ceremony of a support and empowerment programme held in Yola, Adamawa State, where beneficiaries completed vocational and entrepreneurship training.FG-
Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the initiative is designed to help survivors rebuild their lives through education, skills acquisition and access to economic opportunities.
According to the minister, 12 rescued Chibok girls graduated from the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, in May 2026, while another 18 successfully completed vocational training programmes. She added that 33 others are currently enrolled in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, while 21 students at AUN are expected to graduate in 2027.
Chairman of the Chibok Girls’ Parents Association, Yakubu Nkeki, praised the Federal Government and its partners for maintaining support for the girls, saying the programme has played a significant role in helping many of them overcome trauma, regain confidence and build productive futures.
