The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Wednesday, said the Federal Government has approved a pay raise for civil servants in the country.
Ngige said the pay raise is a peculiar allowance for civil servants in view of the current economic reality, and explained that the money will help the government workers navigate through inflation, rising cost of living, hike in transportation fair, housing and electricity tariffs.
According to the minister, the current administration has made provision for the increment of civil workers’ salaries in the 2023 budget.
Ngige however advised the incoming administration of the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu to start discussions on a review of the minimum wage currently obtainable in Nigeria immediately after its inauguration in May.
