Federal Government Sets March 1 Deadline for Online Visa Applications

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the full digitization of its visa application process, set to commence by March 1, 2025.

This was revealed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during a live session on ‘X Spaces’ hosted by prominent influencer Dr. Segun Awosanya.

The initiative aims to streamline processes, reduce corruption, and enhance national security through a centralized visa approval center. Dr. Tunji-Ojo described the move as a “game-changer,” highlighting its potential to eliminate inefficiencies and loopholes that have plagued the system for years.

The minister also unveiled the establishment of an 8.3-petabyte data center at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex. The facility will position Nigeria among global leaders in data security and innovation, reinforcing the government’s commitment to safeguarding sensitive information and modernizing governance.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that this era of digital transparency will strengthen Nigeria’s sovereignty and reputation globally.

Applicants will soon be able to submit documents, pay fees, and track their applications through a secure digital platform, making the visa process more efficient and accessible.
