The Federal Government has successfully signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to resume the issuance of visas to Nigerians, a development that has sparked widespread excitement across the country.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following the Federal Executive Council meeting held at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
“I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so,” Idris informed State House correspondents.
Idris elaborated on the significance of the agreement, stating, “You are aware that Nigeria has been discussing with the United Arab Emirates on the issue of visas for Nigerian passport holders going to the United Arab Emirates. Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today, July 15th, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visas to go to the United Arab Emirates.”
He further mentioned that more detailed information regarding the agreement would be made available later in the day through an official statement.
This development is expected to significantly ease travel restrictions for Nigerians wishing to visit the UAE, whether for business, tourism, or other purposes.
The resumption of visa issuance is seen as a positive step towards strengthening bilateral relations and fostering greater connectivity between the two nations.
