A move to honor and accommodate the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, the Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Tuesday, April 9th, and Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, as public holidays.
The declaration, announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, comes as a recognition of the culmination of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide.
In a statement released on Sunday and signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim faithful for their dedication and successful completion of Ramadan.
He emphasized the significance of this period as a time of spiritual reflection, discipline, and communal solidarity within the Muslim community.Furthermore, the minister called upon Muslims to embody and practice the core virtues exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
