The Federal Government has commenced the construction of 1,250 housing units across four states in Northern Nigeria, under the Renewed Hope Estate of President Bola Tinubu.
This development was announced by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, during the groundbreaking ceremony for 250 housing units under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Estate on Wednesday in Katsina.
The Renewed Hope Estate in Katsina will feature a mix of housing options, including 50 units of 1-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 150 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 50 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.
Dangiwa emphasized that the government has already awarded contracts for the construction of 3,500 housing units in thirteen states, showcasing its commitment to expanding housing developments nationwide. He urged states that have not yet provided land for these projects to do so promptly.
The housing project in Katsina was awarded to four contractors: Messrs K-4 Engineering Ltd, WindLand Engineering and Properties Ltd, Real Phenomenon Integral Services Ltd, and Saltine Engineering Services Ltd.
Dangiwa tasked these developers with adhering to specifications and ensuring the delivery of high-quality work, warning that substandard construction would not be tolerated.
To facilitate home ownership, the government has introduced various financing options. These include single-digit mortgage loans with terms of up to 30 years provided by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Rent-to-Own schemes, and Outright Purchase options for those able to pay upfront.
Dangiwa also mentioned that President Tinubu had launched the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates project earlier this year, which includes a 3,112-housing unit project in Karsana, Abuja.
