Federal Government approves salary increase of between 25% and 35% for civil servants

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the House of Representatives to approve a N24 billion refund to Nasarawa and Kebbi states for the construction of airports.

The Federal Government has approved a salary increase of between 25% and 35% for civil servants on the remaining six Consolidated Salary Structures, effective January 1, 2024.

This decision, separate from the ongoing negotiations concerning the minimum wage increase, reflects the government’s dedication to addressing the financial concerns of its employees.

The Consolidated Salary Structures affected by the salary increase include the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

Furthermore, in a move to enhance the financial security of retirees, the Federal Government has also approved pension adjustments ranging from 20% to 28% for pensioners enrolled in the defined benefits scheme under the aforementioned salary structures.

Previously, employees in the tertiary education and health sectors had received salary increases under specific salary structures tailored to their respective fields.
