The Federal Government has disclosed plans to hold a military parade in commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day, set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at Eagle Square in Abuja. This event is not only to celebrate Democracy Day but also to mark 25 years of democratic governance in Nigeria.
Preceding the military parade, a symposium is scheduled to be held at the State House, followed by a youth conference in Abuja. These events aim to reflect on the journey of democracy in Nigeria over the past quarter-century and to engage the youth in discussions about the future of the nation’s democracy.
In a statement issued by Abdulhakeem Adeoye, acting on behalf of the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, it was emphasized that only accredited Villa correspondents will be permitted to cover the events taking place at the Presidential Villa.
The military parade is expected to showcase the strength and unity of Nigeria’s armed forces, while the symposium and youth conference provide platforms for reflection, dialogue, and engagement on issues pertinent to democracy and national development.
The announcement underscores the government’s commitment to fostering democratic principles and involving citizens, particularly the youth, in shaping the future of the nation. With the celebrations set to unfold, Nigerians anticipate a day of reflection, celebration, and renewed commitment to democratic ideals.
