FCT Police Bust Car Theft Syndicate Operating Between Abuja and Lagos

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have successfully dismantled a car theft syndicate specialized in stealing vehicles from Abuja and selling them in Lagos State.

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have successfully dismantled a car theft syndicate specialized in stealing vehicles from Abuja and selling them in Lagos State.

Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Benneth Igweh, revealed the breakthrough during a parade of suspects on Monday.

He narrated how the gang’s luck ran out when a friend of one of their victims, whose car was stolen in Abuja, stumbled upon the stolen vehicle being advertised for sale at a car stand in Lagos.

The vigilant friend, upon spotting the stolen Toyota Camry belonging to his acquaintance, promptly alerted the victim, who traveled to Lagos to verify the vehicle’s identity. Upon confirming that it was indeed his stolen car, the victim notified the FCT police.

Responding swiftly, police detectives were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered that the original chassis of the stolen vehicle had been replaced. Despite this attempt at disguise, law enforcement officers managed to recover the stolen car and apprehend the criminals involved in the syndicate.
