The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has taken decisive action by closing down a KFC outlet at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos due to alleged discriminatory practices.

The closure, effective from Thursday, March 28, 2024, was announced in a statement issued by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah.

According to FAAN, the decision to shut down the KFC outlet was made following reports of discriminatory treatment towards a Person with Reduced Mobility (PRM).

FAAN has instructed the management of KFC to issue an unreserved written apology to the affected PRM. Additionally, FAAN has mandated that a policy statement affirming a commitment to non-discrimination be drafted and prominently displayed at the entrance of the KFC facility at MMIA before it is allowed to resume operations.
