The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a scheduled power supply disconnection at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport on June 5, 2024.
This temporary shutdown is to facilitate urgent maintenance work on critical electrical infrastructure.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, detailed the necessity of the maintenance, which focuses on addressing issues with the bus riser 11 kilo-volt-amperes (KVA) high tension (HT) panel. The panel, located on the ground floor, north of International Terminal 2 (ITZ-2), requires immediate attention to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of airport operations.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) hereby notifies all stakeholders and the public that a maintenance shutdown of power supply shall occur at the International Terminal 2 (ITZ-2) between 13:30 and 14:30 hrs on Wednesday, June 5, 2024,” Orah stated. The maintenance window is crucial for addressing the identified electrical issues and ensuring that the facility remains safe and functional.
During this maintenance period, airlines such as Rwanda Air, EgyptAir, and Qatar Air, which typically operate from ITZ-2, will be relocated to International Terminal 1 (ITZ-1) for all check-in and arrival procedures.
FAAN has advised all passengers flying with these airlines to note the temporary change in terminal operations and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
