The Lagos High Court, Ikeja, has granted bail to the former Central Bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, who was recently facing legal proceedings.
Justice Rahman Oshodi presided over the hearing and approved Emefiele’s bail on specific conditions.
Emefiele’s bail was set at N50 million, with the requirement of two sureties who must each provide the same amount.
Additionally, the court mandated that the sureties must be gainfully employed individuals with a minimum of three years of tax payment history to the Lagos State Government.
Justice Oshodi emphasized the importance of proper identification for the sureties and stipulated that they must be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System, ensuring their credibility and accountability.
Furthermore, the court directed that all bail documents must be transferred to the special offences court and registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System, reinforcing the transparency and integrity of the legal process.
