DHQ Confirms rescued 137 Kuriga school pupils in Zamfara

The Armed Forces of Nigeria on Sunday confirmed that collaboration with local authorities and government agencies across the country led to the rescue of 137 pupils of LEA School Kuriga in Chikun LG of Kaduna State

The Armed Forces of Nigeria on Sunday confirmed that collaboration with local authorities and government agencies across the country led to the rescue of 137 pupils of LEA School Kuriga in Chikun LG of Kaduna State.

The Director Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, in a statement revealed that the victims, comprising 76 females and 61 male, were rescued in the early hours of Sunday 24 March 2024.

He said the rescued hostages were rescued in Zamfara State and would be conveyed and handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further action.

Relatedly, it would be recalled that on 21 March 2024, troops equally rescued 16 Almajiris pupils with a woman taken hostage in Gada LGA of Sokoto State. And having rescued the hostages, they were handed over to the Sokoto State Government.
