Afrobeats star Davido has stressed the importance of building a strong fan base at home, saying international recognition means little without local support.

Speaking during a livestream with content creator Carter Efe, the singer explained that the respect and influence he enjoys abroad are largely driven by his success and popularity in Nigeria.

According to Davido, many international audiences pay attention to African artists because of the impact they already have in their home countries, adding that local relevance should come before seeking validation from the West.

The award-winning musician also hinted that his upcoming album, “ORIADE,” will see him reconnect with his Afrobeats roots as he continues to strengthen his presence both at home and globally.

Davido’s comments highlight his belief that lasting global success begins with establishing a strong foundation in one’s own market.
