At the ceremony held in Alausa, Chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said the gesture was necessitated by the prevailing high cost of food in the country, ensuring that all Thirty Six states get their fair share of the one million bags of ten kilogramme bags of rice through partnership with NGOs and faith based organisations.

While accepting the donation, Lagos Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu noted that the current tough times are not perculiar to Nigeria, stressing that it is only humane for the private sector to join hands with the federal government to ease the pains of vulnerable persons through various interventions.
