Customs Extends Verification Exercise for Private Aircraft

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a one-month extension of its verification exercise aimed at recovering import duties on illegally imported private aircraft.

The extension will now run from October 14 to November 14, providing additional time for compliance.

Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesperson for the NCS, made the announcement in a statement released in Abuja on Monday.

He highlighted that the extension offers a further opportunity for operators of privately owned aircraft to meet the necessary regulatory requirements and fulfil their obligations.

Maiwada underscored the NCS’s dedication to ensuring that all illegally imported aircraft adhere to legal standards, stressing the importance of promoting transparency and accountability within the aviation sector. He urged aircraft operators to take advantage of the extended timeframe to avoid penalties for non-compliance after the new deadline.
