The Federal High Court in Lagos State granted businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, N10 million bail with two sureties in like sum.
This decision came after the celebrity bar man pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the Nigerian currency during his trial.
Cubana Chief Priest was arraigned before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on three counts related to the alleged abuse of the nation’s currency, the Naira, at a social event, contravening the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007. The charges specifically accuse him of spraying and tampering with Naira notes during the said event.
Despite the allegations leveled against him, Cubana Chief Priest maintained his innocence and entered a plea of not guilty during the court proceedings. This plea set the stage for further legal proceedings as the trial unfolds.
In granting bail, the court required Cubana Chief Priest to provide two sureties who would stand as guarantors for the bail sum of N10 million.
