Governor Bassey Otu has suspended the ongoing Local Government Service recruitment in Cross River State due to allegations of racketeering, job slot monetisation, and lack of transparency. The move follows public complaints from residents about irregularities in the process.
In a statement by Secretary to the State Government Owan Enoh, the suspension was described as a step to restore public confidence and ensure due process. The governor has also set up a five-member panel to investigate the allegations and assess the extent of misconduct in the recruitment exercise.
