The Federal High Court in Abuja has denied Adeniyi Adeyemi’s request for bail and medical access while he remains in police custody over allegations linked to the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Justice Obiora Egwuatu, however, ordered the Inspector-General of Police and the Attorney-General of the Federation to allow Adeyemi to meet with his lawyers.
The judge also gave the police and the AGF 72 hours to explain why Adeyemi should not receive the other reliefs he requested, including bail. He adjourned the case until September 9 for their response.
Police obtained a bench warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest on July 14 from another Federal High Court judge, Mohammed Umar. The police later announced that officers arrested Adeyemi at a hideout in Osun State, describing him as an alleged fake PFIPC Director-General.
